What's Inside

Five mechanisms. Every ingredient explained.

NMN
Nicotinamide Mononucleotide
β-NMN 99% purity
NAD+ declines 40–50% between age 30 and 60. The retina, with one of the highest metabolic demands of any tissue, is especially vulnerable. NMN bypasses the rate-limiting NAMPT enzyme to restore NAD+ directly inside retinal cells, activating SIRT1 and SIRT3 neuroprotective pathways. The 500mg dose exceeds doses showing functional benefit in human RCTs and matches the molecule in the active NCT06991712 glaucoma trial.

500mg
Lutein
5% from Marigold
AREDS2-matched dose
Lutein concentrates in the macula to form macular pigment — the eye's natural blue-light filter. It absorbs high-energy blue light before it reaches the photoreceptors and directly quenches reactive oxygen species. The 10mg dose is the exact amount validated in the AREDS2 multi-centre RCT (n=4,203), reducing risk of advanced AMD progression by 18–26%.

Zeaxanthin
2% from Marigold
AREDS2-matched dose
Zeaxanthin concentrates at the foveal centre — the very centre of your vision — complementing lutein to provide full macular pigment coverage. Together, lutein and zeaxanthin at these exact doses are the most rigorously validated macular protection combination in ophthalmic history.

B6 + B12
Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate
+ Methylcobalamin
The 2025 Karolinska Institute study confirmed dysregulated one-carbon metabolism in human glaucoma tissue, and that B vitamin supplementation completely halted optic nerve axon degeneration without reducing eye pressure. Intessa uses the active forms — P5P and Methylcobalamin — bypassing the MTHFR conversion step that limits absorption in 40–60% of people.

Piperine
95% Black Pepper Extract
Piper nigrum
Piperine is a bioavailability amplifier. It inhibits CYP3A4 and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase enzymes, and blocks P-glycoprotein efflux in the intestinal wall, increasing the absorption of all co-ingested nutrients by 30–60%. Every other ingredient in Intessa is delivered more effectively because piperine is present.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know

Who is Intessa designed for?+
Intessa was formulated specifically for patients managing glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and age-related retinal decline. It is not a general wellness supplement. If you are managing one of these conditions, we recommend discussing Intessa with your ophthalmologist before starting.
How long before I see results?+
Clinical outcomes in NAD+ research are typically observed at 30 to 90 days of consistent use. We recommend committing to at least 90 days — one month to allow NAD+ levels to build, a second month for the protective effects to begin, and a third month to measure any changes at your next clinical appointment.
Is Intessa safe to take with my glaucoma medication?+
Intessa is a dietary supplement, not a drug, and is not designed to replace any prescribed medication. The NAD+ research in glaucoma specifically studied supplementation alongside stable IOP-lowering therapy. Human safety trials of NMN at doses up to 1,250mg/day — more than double Intessa's 500mg — showed no significant adverse events. Always inform your physician about any supplement you are taking.
Where can I get Intessa?+
Intessa is currently available directly from Dr. Curreri's ophthalmology practice at 161 East 32nd Street, New York, NY 10016. Call (212) 979-2020 to enquire. We are expanding to additional physician practices — check back at intessahealth.com for updates on new locations.
Why does Intessa cost more than generic NMN supplements?+
A generic NMN supplement contains one ingredient. Intessa contains five, each at clinically validated doses, in their most bioavailable forms, with piperine to enhance absorption across the board. Buying equivalent coverage separately would require three or more products. Intessa delivers everything in one capsule, manufactured to pharmaceutical-grade GMP standards in an FDA-registered US facility.
Can I take Intessa if I don't have glaucoma or AMD?+
Intessa supports general ocular longevity and cellular health, not just active disease management. Many patients take it proactively as a NAD+ replenishment and macular support supplement. That said, it is physician-formulated and we recommend discussing it with your eye care provider before starting.
